Introduction

I have been studying and practicing astrology for the past 15 years. I have had the good fortune of learning Jyotiṣa from the Achyuta Jyotiṣa Parampara for the past 8 years. This has equipped me with the understanding and methodology for a sound and correct astrological analysis to provide right guidance to clients.

Previously I have 15 years of rich corporate experience working in leadership roles in reputed organizations, which has given a deep understanding of human behavior and motivations. Jyotiṣa has enabled to structure this understanding for determining solutions to problems faced in life.

Education: I have done Bachelors in Engineering followed with MBA from one of the premier business schools of India.

My Story

Oṁ Gurave Namaḥ

Oṃ Gajānanāya Namaḥ

Parampara - the Lineage

I have studied Jyotish (also known as Vedic Astrology) under the auspices of Śrī Achyuta Parampara originating from Puri, Odisha, India for the past 6 years under the tutelage and guidance of Paṇḍit Sanjay Rath, Paṇḍit Visti Larsen and Paṇḍit Sarbani Rath.

The Jyotish Parampara of the Rath family is probably a millenium or more older. It was influenced in the 16th century AD by the teachings of Mahāpuruṣa Śrī Achyutānanda, a great saint, scholar and savant, besides a jyotishi and who was a disciple of the great Chaitanya Mahāprabhu.

Our parampara carries the undiluted, pure knowledge passed down from the Vedic Sages, chiefly Mahaṛṣi Parāśara, whose magnum opus - the Bṛhat Parāśara Hora Śastra is like a Bible or shall I say Gita for the Jyotishis. In fact the Srimad Bhagavad Gita itself is a key text of our tradition in understanding the deeper aspects of Jyotish as also the Jaimini Upadesa Sutras which give an advanced level understanding of the intricacies of Jyotish.

What is Jyotish - Jyotish is everything. Can anyone say what is Physics or Mathematics - its the study of everything and every part of this universe from the micro to the macro is influenced by this study - then what to say of you and me.

My journey with Jyotiṣa

My late mother used to say that when she was pregnant with me, she developed an interest in studying astrology and studied "upto the Ashtakavarga". I never probed her - what exactly she meant by that. My father had studied astrology; his judgments and advice helped many friends and relatives who consulted him. From as far back as I can remember even in my early childhood, I would pester my father to teach me astrology. For some reason he was hesitant about it and I ended up learning palmistry instead. With even my half baked knowledge - young and old would show me their hands and somehow seem very happy and convinced with my judgments and predictions, more convinced than myself, I must admit.

Eventually my father relented and taught me a few basics. That was enough for that was just the start I required and I bought books after books in an attempt to gain deeper understanding. However it was not until I turned 32, that my eventual Guru Sanjayji encouraged me to study jyotish. It took another 3 years for me to actually gain the courage to enrol into a course. Fortunately for me, I studied under his student Shri Visti Larsen who is not only a great jyotishi, and a kind human being, but exactly the type of teacher I could best learn from. I have completed the penultimate year of Parasara Jyotisa Course under the tutelage of Vistiji and I am studying Mantra Shastra and Jaimini Scholar Program - learning from Sanjayji, Vistiji as well as Sarbaniji.

With the permission and blessings of my Gurus, I am now embarking on this journey to benefit others with this knowledge. I am offering Jyotisa consultations for those interested in getting a better understanding of themselves and their place in this world, to help guide and resolve their problems to the best of my abilities and knowledge.
